Food for Thought, Reinterpretations of Vivian Mayer

A juried show curator by CoVault artist member Heather McGeachy, this project explores the recreation of Vivian Maier’s black-and-white photography through the medium of paint. Each artist selected a Maier photograph or a section of one to reinterpret, transforming her iconic imagery into vibrant, diverse works that reflect their individual styles.

The process was one of challenge and discovery, as we navigated the translation of Maier’s original compositions and emotions into color and form. By displaying these reimagined pieces together, we initiate new dialogues between the works, highlighting how varied interpretations can emerge from the same source material.

The exhibition encourages viewers to reflect on how different perspectives and mediums can transform a single moment captured in time.
